Boise at Home Ceases Operations
Boise at Home ceased operations effective Oct. 31, 2017. During 19 months of service, the board of directors and Executive Director Brossy Reina worked to build membership, recruit volunteers and raise operating capital. Goals for volunteers and individual donor dollars were met, but members enrolled and grants received were insufficient to sustain cash flow. Dozens of prospective members said "I'm not there yet." Foundations declined to fund a nonprofit without a track record and found the mission less compelling than others. The 44 members expressed great satisfaction with services received but were unable to provide a solution. However, the 501c3 nonprofit will be retained while some members and volunteers seek sustainable ways to help Boise/Garden City seniors thrive as they "age in place."
